MY HOUSE WAS ON FIRE

my house was on fire. MY HOUSE WAS ON FIRE. I don’t even know what else to say because thats all that occupies my mind right now. I always heard of peoples houses catching fire and I always sympathized with them but I SEVERELY underestimated the panic/horror that goes into ones heart when their house is on fire. My roommates friend lit oil in a pan on our electric stove and it caught fire and because she used a GLASS DISH ON THE STOVE instead of the normal pan that has handles so she couldnt move it off the heat and the flames started englufing the top of the stove and the connecting wall. I will never forget the temporary insanity that happened to me when I saw this. I literally ran out of the house and started screaming bloody murder and swearing and banging on our neighbor’s doors trying to ask for a fire extinguisher because, of course, we didn’t have one. I called 911 and the literally FOUR minutes it took them to get there, which would seem incredibly fast, were the worst four minutes of my entire life. I just envisioned everything, every single thing in my life that I owned going up in flames, never to be seen again. I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. I couldnt breathe and I just immediatly burst into tears. Obviously I’m not a very strong person and couldn’t handle the pressure or do anything to hide my apparent panic. My roommate christina on the other hand was the calmest person there. She was trying to calm everyone down and although she did freak out later I have to commend her on keeping her composure while I looked like a complete maniac running/crying/screaming/swearing up and down my street. I have never felt so helpless in my life and I never want to feel like that again. After trying to clean up the disgusting mess I was told by my mother to leave it until the insurance company comes to assess the situation so for now I have to live in the most uncomfortable, smelly house until that time comes. OH and I somehow lost 100 dollars. so far, this week pretty much blows.
